Neurocysticercosis is a CNS infestation of encysted larval stage of pork tapeworm when a man serves as the intermediate host. This infestation is classified into 4 types depending on involoved antatomie site: parenchymal, intraventircular,
meningeal,
and mixed. The diagnosis is made primarily by imaging studies and CSF examination.
We reviewed MRI and CT findings in 34 patients of neurocysticercosis in Hanyang university hospital from 1987 to 1991.
These patients had been diagnosed as neurocysticercosis by clinlcal symptoms, MRI and/or CT, and ELISA (Serum and CSF).
MRI was more useiul than CT for the diagnosis in various types of neurocysticercosis.
